Cooperation with Mozambique | |  | Source: Press Office of Eletrobras |  | Eletrobras is engaged, together with Mozambique company EDM, in the economic and financial organization of CESUL project for the construction of a high-voltage 1,400 kilometer transmission line interconnecting Tete Province, in the country’s Central Region, to the capital, Maputo, in the South.
By means of a technical cooperation agreement entered into between the two companies in June 2010, Eletrobras, together with its subsidiary Eletrobras Furnas, analyzed the project feasibility and social and environmental impact studies. The studies have been developed by Norwegian company Vattenfall, hired by EDM with World Bank funds.
The project is to be carried out within the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding between Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy and Mozambique’s Ministry of Energy. |
